Our History
Shree Laxmi Iron & Steel Works Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in 1946 with its works at Liluah in Howrah District, about 6 km from the main city of Kolkata and 10 km from Calcutta Port, under the able stewardship of its Managing Director Late Shri S.N. Rungta.
The company started its manufacturing activities rolling commercial sections. Gradually it went into rolling of specialised profile sections which at that time were only rolled by Durgapur Steel Plant (SAIL) and Tata Iron & Steel Company (TISCO).
The Fish Plate section was rolled in 1957 — the first time a private sector company in India manufactured Fish Plates. It was also one of the few companies in India at that time to export Fish Plates.
The company specialises in the manufacture of Fish Plates with custom-made imported machines & equipment, having huge production capacity. It also manufactures Steel Bearing Plates, Base/Sole Plates, various Elastic Rail Clips (U-Clip, K-Clip, Pandrol Clips), Bolts & Nuts, Loose Jaws, Two Way Keys, Dog Spikes, Rail Screws, Light Forging items & Grooved Rubber Sole Plates.
